Therapy modalities

Although I am a registered dance/movement therapist, I will collaborate with you to find the style of counseling that best fits your needs. There is never a demand to move, only invitations to comfort and curiosity. We'll explore your personal neurobiology to discover embodied self-care skills that enhance your adaptive responses to stress and trauma, decrease loneliness and isolation, and invite joy through play and imagination.

  • Dance/movement therapy is a branch of the expressive arts with a unique orientation toward the body. We'll ask neurobiological questions like how we are sensing cues of safety and unsafety and what prior experiences affect those senses. We'll look for embodied resources that work for you-- there is no cookie cutter workbook solution here because every body's lived experience is different.  Group movement therapy can provide additional benefits of healing in community. • I offer a full size sand tray and treasure box of figurines for exploration of archetypes and themes in your life. Great for approaching mysteries, paradoxes, or dream work.

  • Dance/movement therapy has been well studied as a first-line trauma treatment for veterans and for survivors of power-based violence or natural disasters. We start with building safety and move at the speed of trust to understand the neurobiology of trauma as well as its impacts on sleep, memory, relationships, and identity.

  • Somatic and expressive arts therapies are well-suited to exploring body image, self-esteem, and gender dysphoria by learning more about our embodied identities. We can explore how our movement impacts relationships, for example, or get more in tune with our boundaries. I can provide letters of support for gender affirming care to medical providers as well as facilitation for creative processes like gender-affirming movement, fashion, and makeup exploration.

  • Brain training offers real-time feedback by monitoring EEG brain wave patterns and offering opportunities for creating new pathways and calming the mind.

  • Depending on your needs, we may use poetry, writing, art, music, movement, or drama interventions to explore feelings and search for joy and resilience. Absolutely no prior arts experience required.
