Frequently Asked Questions

Nope! The way I incorporate creative arts into therapy is through the experience of creating, making and doing and then reflecting on that experience.
-
No. My stance on therapy is that no one should ever be or feel forced into doing something and dance is only one of many ways to express ourselves. We will move at the speed of trust!

I actively search for ways to make self-care and wellness affordable and accessible. Many clients do not realize they may only owe a small portion of the bill by submitting to insurance carriers as “out of network” which I can assist you with. For un-insured or under-insured clients I recommend Open Path to connect with therapists for a very low membership fee. I also offer coaching and group therapy as more affordable support options. I frequently facilitate classes and workshops around Fairbanks which are usually low cost or free, as well. If you’re not sure which option best suits your needs and budget, please reach out!

Somatic means “of the body.” Somatic therapies tend to focus on aspects such as neurobiology (internal factors), perception (external factors), and embodiment (felt senses ie the subjective experience of being in a body). There is a wide range of somatic techniques; my specific training in dance/movement therapy focuses on state-shifting, befriending the nervous system, and exploring movement as a way of processing emotions and building resilience.

I am currently not paneled with any private insurance carriers, however, that is what out-of-network benefits can help cover, which I am happy to go over with you during a discovery call or your first session. Insurance does not typically cover coaching, classes, or workshops.
